It's time to link up my Q3 WIP List for the 2013 Finish-A-Long over at She Can Quilt! And while I'm at it, they are also my projects for WIP Wednesday. Two for one! Here are the projects I'm currently working on. #1 - Baby D Chevron Quilt: This quilt is for my friend who is due in mid August. I thought it would be finished in no time, but I have been going very slow. I finally finished pressing and trimming all of my HST triangles after putting it off during the recent heat wave. It was really … [Read more...]
WIP Wednesday: I’m hot
Summer has come roaring to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Yesterday it was 100° F! We don't have AC or even a fan, so we just stay hot :) I was still able to do a little work on the baby D quilt. I marked all my squares and then started sewing them together to make the half square triangles. I was dripping with sweat the whole time and couldn't bring myself to turn on the iron to press them open. I also realized my sewing machine petal gets very hot when I'm sewing. I've never sewn … [Read more...]
WIP Wednesday: Confessions
I'm not linking up to the WIP on Freshly Pieced today :( Sadly, I had no project time since last week. I'm hoping that means I'll have a ton to share next week! I did want to take a quick moment to say a big thanks to everyone who commented on my WIP last week. I've been writing and posting WIP Wednesdays each week for over a month. And each week, I would chicken out from linking up. I kept thinking I wasn't good enough yet, or didn't have anything interesting to share, or didn't know what the … [Read more...]
WIP Wednesday: One down, One to Go
I am still so excited to have finished my second quilt ever. I dropped it off at my mom's on Friday and she's going to take it to the baby shower next weekend. I can't go unfortunately because I had already signed up for the Bavarian Battle. It's basically one of those obstacle course races, but with a Bavarian twist. At the end we get bavarian hats, a brat, and a beer (I might sneak in wine :)). Very excited about this. In the quilt project department, I have another baby quilt planned for … [Read more...]
WIP Wednesday: Vacation Days
I haven't made any sewing progress since last Wednesday, but I did make some shopping progress (and sometimes, isn't that just as fun? :)). My husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary with a trip to Coeur d'Alene over the weekend. I had just purchased a copy of Simplify by Camille Roskelley, so I brought that with me to read. I really enjoyed looking through it and it had a few projects I'll be adding to my list. I talked my husband into taking me to the local quilt shop there called Bear … [Read more...]
WIP Wednesday: Ready for Quilting!
This weekend I had a few hours to assemble the blocks. I quickly learned that if one block is off, it is much more difficult to keep the rest from getting off. I think my earlier mistakes snowballed somewhat. I'm not worried about it though, I'm sure I'll get better at this with more practice. I'm also going to check and see if my local quilt shop has a beginner class. I think it would be fun to meet some other newbies and learn the right way to do things. Part of me wishes I was ok with just … [Read more...]
