Exciting developments and an apology

Hey friends,
Sorry for the weird password protected post last week. I didn’t think that would go out to the public. Oops! The reason behind that post ties in to the exciting developments that have been going on. As some of you know, Mur and I have been dreaming and scheming of a way to build a house over near Leavenworth. There are so many factors that go into this type of project that I had been a little nervous to tell people about it. I’m still a little nervous… BUT it looks like things are moving forward to have our house built this year!!! Mur has been designing the plans and I have been researching renting our house out (I’m going to be landlady… ) and working on the interior design of the new house (the beast part!). We are also kicking around the idea of finding an old vintage trailer to live in while we build. TWO dreams at once!

This year is phase 1, which is a very small house with a loft space that will become the guest house when we build our larger house in phase 2. Because the house we’ll live in for phase 1 (probably for a year) is VERY small (like 300 sq feet), I have some SERIOUS decluttering to do. I have started photographing and listing all of my treasures for sale. The post last week is that listing. I wanted to send it to a few wedding vendors friends first privately before turning to craigslist. I’ve also been prepping for a massive garage sale in May. Today I cleared our bookshelf of everything I bought but still haven’t read in 3 years (that means I’ll never read it) and books I have read, but weren’t dear enough to my heart to keep. Luckily, we will be able to keep a few things in our basement at our current house, so I don’t have to get rid of stuff (like my wedding dress) that definitely will not fit in tiny house.

Girl’s Trip to Miami Beach

Some of my best friends in the world are all from my college soccer team. As we’ve discussed and obsessed about many times, sometimes terrible/strange/trying experiences bring people closer together. It is a bond that no one understands and is impossible to break. As the years have passed we have scattered around the country pursuing our goals and guys Luckily we have been able to find time every couple years to get together for some sunshine and girl time.

This year, we found ourselves in Miami Beach, a place of overpriced cocktails and skimpy clothing, but also wonderful beaches and a great bayside pool. We also most definitely showed that town how to dance!!! I can’t wait for our next trip to the World Cup in Brazil. Mark your calendars, ladies!

Mexico!

Mur and I had a wonderful adventure in California Baja del Sur in January of this year. Our journey started in Loreto and then we drove South to La Paz and Todos Santos (our favorite city!). Below are a few of the highlights from our trip.

This was our resort just outside of Loreto. It had like 6 pools so I made sure to swim in all of them! Our room was on the top floor in the middle of the building.

We went on a walk near our resort. Mur really wanted his picture by a cactus. If he were wearing green, it might be hard to see him. haha

Road trip!!! Most of our drive from Loreto to La Paz looked like this… Pretty much desert all around.

This was one of the beaches in La Paz. The tide had gone out so we were able to walk across the water. It was a little scary getting back because the tide really came back fast!

We stayed at the Todos Santos Inn in Todos Santos. This was the library next to the bar where we read and played games. I loved how comfortable this place was and I hope to stay here again very soon.

Our favorite beach in Todos Santos. It had a surfing colony and we had such a blast watching people surf all day. Mur rented a boogie board and got tossed around in the waves a little bit.

One morning, Mur and I did a photo walk of Todos Santos. This is the street our Inn was on. There were little restaurants, shops, and art galleries lining all of these tiny streets.

This was the cathedral at the end of the town square. I loved the front of it and it’s bright yellow color. We passed this building many times on the way to the Hotel California and our favorite tapas and wine bar.

Winter lookback

As life seems to go faster and faster, I put off my blogging more and more. It is difficult to blog backwards so I’m going to try again to keep up with the goings-on of life. But I thought I would put in a few photos of the last few months of winter.

THANKSGIVING:

We went to the cabin again this year and had a little bit of snow on the ground. We had a nice large group and the Lady set up a great table for us.

Our friends D&H had an adorable new baby girl who made her first Thanksgiving appearance here at the cabin. I love this pic of the Lady with her. Adorbs.

NEW YEARS

One of my favorite parts of New Year is our annual trip to Leavenworth for brats. The girls also did a little bit of wine tasting which was a blast.

So glad my cousin and her fiancé were able to join us again this year!

I was also really excited to welcome Col’s new friend to our tradition!
